Alaska Here We Come!

With how much our community has grown in the past 12 years, we love looking for ways to continue to gather together and socialize, bond, or celebrate. Over 600 community members and over 100 active bowlers on a regular basis, Out! Bowling has become a social force in the Chicago-area. Our bonds last a lifetime. Because of this, we’re inviting all members of the Out! Bowling community, and more broadly, the LGBTQ community we touch, to join us for an Alaskan Cruise in May 2027. See below for all the information you need to know.

The Highlights of the Trip

May 19, 2027 to May 27, 2027 (8 Nights, 9 Days)

Travel coordination and booking is being handled by Casey Wooley (league founder) and professional travel agent with Magical Memories by Casey.

  • 5/19: Fly into Seattle with Pre-Cruise Stay at Residence Inn by Marriott.
  • 5/20: Embarkation Day from Seattle, WA cruise port.
  • 5/20 to 5/26: Inside Passage (Cruising), Ketchikan, Juneau, Tracy Arm Fjord, Prince Rupert British Columbia, Sailing at Sea.
  • 5/27: Arrive back in Seattle, WA and fly back home.

Additional Information:

  • Each traveler responsible for their own flights into/out of Seattle on 5/19 & 5/27.
  • Ground transportation can be handled via RideShare to/from airport and cruise port.
  • Casey will book on the behalf of each traveler: the pre-cruise hotel stay on 5/19, the cruise accommodations 5/20 to 5/27, and optional travel insurance.
  • The Cruise is 5/20 to 5/27 aboard the Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady.
  • Solo, double, triple, and quadruple occupancy is available depending on room type.
  • Unexpired passports are required due to a stop in British Columbia.
    • For our trans friends: currently the US government requires that new, renewed, or replacement U.S. passports must reflect a person’s biological sex assigned at birth (using only an M or an F). The X marker option has been removed. However, any existing, unexpired passports with an X or updated gender marker remain 100% valid for travel until they expire.

Expected Costs and Deposit Information:

  • Estimated Cost Per Traveler (See Below): From $326/Night/traveler. Important to note: pricing is dynamic and can CHANGE until deposit is placed. If 16 travelers commit by 7/1 to the 20% deposit, we can unlock an additional $100/room bar tab credit for those in Sea Terrace or higher rooms.
    • Flights: Estimated $400 to $500 roundtrip per traveler. Each traveler is responsible for making their own flight arrangements and supplying that information to Casey.
    • Pre-Cruise Hotel Stay: Estimated $300 + tax.
    • Cruise Accommodations: Varies based on stateroom (see below). Note: pricing is based on Virgin Voyage’s premium fare which offers travelers the most flexible options for cancellations and best value for accommodations.
      • Premium Fare includes 20 signature restaurants with 60-day reservation access, entertainment, premium WIFI for up to 2 devices per cabin, fitness classes, unlimited soda and water, $105 bar tab credit per cabin, and another $100 per cabin bar tab credit if we reach 16 confirmed passengers by 7/1/2026 for those in a sea terrace or higher room. It also includes all tips and gratuities.
    • Travel Insurance: Optional, but highly recommended. This is based on when you buy it, your age, and total cost of your trip. Approximately 7 to 9% of total trip cost.
  • 20% of cruise fare required to secure your reservation, refundable for 7 days after it is placed. After that, it’s only refundable as a future travel credit up to 120 days prior to departure.

The Insider Cabin (No Ocean View)

The Insider cabin on Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady is a sleek, modern retreat engineered for maximum value and uninterrupted rest. Ranging from a cozy 105 square feet for solos to a comfortable 177 square feet for standard layouts, these windowless sanctuaries are perfect for late-night partygoers who want to sleep in without the early Alaska sun waking them up. The space cleverly features Virgin’s signature convertible SeaBed, transforming from a social couch by day to a plush bed by night. Managed via an in-room tablet for custom mood lighting, it also boasts a surprisingly roomy bathroom with a premium rain shower.

The Seaview Cabin (Porthole)

The Sea View cabin on the Brilliant Lady offers the perfect blend of natural light and scenic views without the price tag of a full balcony. Ranging from 130 square feet for solo travelers to 220 square feet for standard layouts, these nautically-inspired rooms are ideal for taking in the stunning Alaskan scenery. The absolute highlight is the signature, cushioned porthole window seat, providing a cozy, built-in nook where you can relax with your morning coffee and watch glaciers glide past. Complete with an in-room tech tablet and a spacious rain shower, it’s a bright, ambient home base for the league.

The Sea Terrace Cabin (Balcony)

The Sea Terrace cabin is the quintessential Virgin Voyages experience. Ranging from 185 to 225 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, these gorgeous rooms feature floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open directly onto your own private balcony. The absolute showstopper is the terrace’s hand-woven, red Leaf hammock—perfect for bundling up in a cozy duvet to watch for whales against the Alaskan backdrop. Inside, you’ll enjoy the convertible SeaBed, an in-room tablet for custom mood lighting, and a roomy rain shower, making it a spectacular home base for our league’s adventure.

4 Types of Sea Terrace Cabin in order of price increase:

  • Standard Sea Terrace (priced below)
  • Central Sea Terrace: spot in the center of the ship

Rockstar and Mega Rockstar Quarters (Suites)

For absolute luxury, the Tom Dixon-designed Rockstar and Mega Rockstar suites (ranging from 352 to over 2,100 square feet) offer a full VIP vacation. All suite guests enjoy marble bathrooms, record players, private terraces with hammocks, express boarding, and exclusive access to Richard’s Rooftop sundeck with its daily complimentary champagne hour. While standard Rockstars get 24/7 concierge support and a free first round of in-room liquor, upgrading to Mega Rockstar unlocks a nearly all-inclusive experience: free drinks ship-wide, a daily replenished bottomless bar, complimentary daily thermal spa passes, and a personally dedicated private butler.

Interest and Expected Timeline

Below represents the expected timeline for those interested along with important dates as we countdown our trip:

  • 7/1/2026: Firm commitment that you can make the 20% deposit. If we get at least 16 travelers, we can take advantage of an additional $100/cabin additional bar tab credit for those in sea terrace or higher rooms.
  • 8/1/2026: Booking with 20% deposit. Free cancellation before 8/8.
  • 8/9/2026: Cancellations for future travel credit only.
  • Through 11/1/2026: Additional travelers welcome to join, but 20% due at time of booking.
  • 11/1/2026: Pre-Cruise accommodations booked with full amount due for the hotel.
  • 1/1/2027: Travelers must have flights booked with flight information to Casey.
  • 1/6/2027: Final payment due for cruise.
  • 4/5/2027: Last day for future travel credit for cancellations.
  • 5/18/2027: Last day for name changes or swaps on board.
  • 5/19/2027: The adventure begins in Seattle!
